YOGA and MINDFULNESS are essential elements of a healthy body and mind!

Children’s yoga is taught in a variety of ways – the aim is for children to have fun and be themselves. Some of the ways you can expect your child to learn and move are through songs, stories and games. Children will be taught to become aware of and connect to their breath using props, and will learn positive self-talk through visualisation, mediation and other activities.

Our Yoga instructor is Daniella Pepicelli who is also a Primary school teacher. She believes that children’s yoga is a place for children to express themselves, develop mind-body awareness and have fun.

MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness has many psychological benefits such as improving focus, memory, self-esteem, confidence and academic performance. Being mindful and ‘present’ in the moment is the key to and having a true sense of identity and self-worth, thus reducing anxiety and stress.

Children have an ideal opportunity to develop habits that will become ingrained from a young age to grow into compassionate and confident leaders as adults.

The brain develops rapidly during childhood. Mindfulness develops skills such as focussing, concentration and reasoning. These skills give children the tools they need to think logically and rationally when making decisions. Children also become better equipped to build resilience by being able to self-regulate their emotions and learn breathing techniques, supplying their body with the oxygen it needs in stressful situations.
